George Harrison Los Angeles vigil set for Nov. 29
(11/18/02) A press release (thanks to Karen Dyson):
Hollywood, CA -- A "George Harrison Flower Vigil" will take place Friday,
Nov. 29, 2002 to commemorate the first anniversary of the passing of the
late, legendary singer, songwriter and Beatles member who gave us so many
memorable songs, including "Here comes the sun", "Something" and "My sweet
Lord". The public vigil will take place 12:00 Noon at the Beatles Hollywood
Walk of Fame Star, located in the Walk of Fame Annex at the intersection of
Hollywood Boulevard and La Brea Avenue.
George Harrison fans are invited to bring flowers to place by the star.
Also, an open microphone will be placed by the star for fans who would like
to perform a song, poem or spoken word tribute. George Harrison passed away
on Nov. 29, 2001 in Los Angeles after a long bout with cancer.
The Alliance for Survival peace group sponsoring the event is calling for
"Ten Days of Peace for John and George" between the Nov. 29 anniversary of
the passing of George Harrison and the Dec. 8 anniversary of the passing of
John Lennon. For those ten days people are encouraged to increase their
efforts to promote peace in their communities and worldwide, says event
organizer Jerry Rubin.
The featured performer for this event will be L.A.'s own "Violin Girl",
Cara-C.
