Hi, Steve-- The tally is up to 19 new songs written and recorded as of yesterday for Ringo and the Roundheads. Mr. Hudson says he's hoping to bring it to an even 20. Most of the band has returned to the States, while Ringo, Mark and Gary Burr are recording vocals at Ringo's studio.
Update (5/15/04)
Hi, Steve-- I just spoke to Mark Hudson in England, who's been busy recording at Ringo's home studio for the last week and a half, working on the next Ringo album. [Actually, Ringo and the boys took the night off May 12 - went to see Eric Clapton play at the Royal Albert Hall in London!] So far, during that time, the Roundheads have written and recorded EIGHT new songs. And, yes, Ringo is hard at work DRUMMING - his shoulder's doing great. By the way, as usual, look for some cool special guests, too. Matt

One item of info that Mark Hudson spoke about at the fest was that the WORKING title for the upcoming Ringo album is 'One Leg At A Time'. He also said that it was not going to be all country [as Ringo has implied in the past] but it will have some 'twangy' stuff on it. And I have not read any comments about Gary Burr, who told some great stories about meeting Ringo and Barb for the first time, and how the salary negotiations for Burr's initial involvement went [When he heard the amount of money being discussed, he asked 'will Ringo accept a check' --- as if Burr would have paid to be involved!] Mark H. also brought out Mark Mirando [b/g vocals on 'OK Ray'] and the three did a version of 'This Boy' with Hudson absurdly directing the trio's arrangement-on-the-fly.You can see some of my fest foto's at: http://home.comcast.net/~celebrities909/bugfest04.html
Hi Steve, Mark Hudson was one of the guests at the Beatles convention in NJ this past weekend. Just to follow up on what Ringo told the KCET audience in March, Mark confirmed that Ringo would resume recording his album at his own studio in the UK on May 1. Mark said they had to halt work on the album because Ringo was in considerable pain with a rotator cuff injury / bone spurs) in the shoulder. Apparently Mark was witness to this while Ringo was actually playing. He said Ringo is completely recovered, and they will resume recording with the hopes of having the album out in the fall. All the best,
Patti
Hi Steve, I got a tape in the mail from Ringo's appearance in studio during pledge week for the showing of the All Starrs 2003 tour today. Ringo said he started his album in November and will finish it this year. He's got 5-6 tracks done and said there's about 10 more to do. They did five tracks at his studio in the UK and one track this month at Mark Hudson's studio in California. So far Joe Walsh is on the list for a guest appearance on the album. He also said they will resume recording in May at his place in the UK.
"I just got off the phone with Mark Hudson, who revealed that Ringo is writing and recording a new album with the Roundheads. Recording is to begin in earnest in April. There's no timetable for the album's release. More news to follow."
