Julian and Sean Lennon performing together? Not true, says Julian

Update (2/5/09)
  • He still can't get it right: Roger Friedman of Fox News finally responded to the fact he screwed up the story about Julian Lennon and Sean Lennon playing at the United Nations. But he showed his sources really don't know what's going on. His item ended up by saying it was too bad "the Lennons aren’t doing something for the United Nations." As we told you, the two Lennons aren't, though one of them might.

    Update (1/31/09)

  • Julian Lennon added an additional comment about the Friedman news item. He said, "For the Record, Sean and I do not have any disputes & have NEVER had any, no matter what the media may report. And for the record, Sean & I have already played LIVE together many years ago, I believe at 'The Beacon Theater' in New York. We love each other as Brothers & always will. We are Blood! FACT! Julian."

(1/30/2009) A gossip item by Roger Friedman of Fox News Thursday that was picked up by a lot of "news" sites saying that Julian Lennon and Sean Lennon would be performing together at the UN Millenium Development Goals Awards Feb. 26 has been dismissed by Julian Lennon as completely false.

We'd gotten word early in the day from a source that Friedman's report about the two playing together at the event was wrong and updated our report to include that. Then about 7:30 p.m. ET, Julian posted a blog on MySpace conclusively confirming that the Fox News story was incorrect.

"Do they ever tell the truth at FOX?," he wrote. "He/They didn't even attempt to get in touch with either of our reps or the producers of the UN event to find out whether this story was true or not. So you know what they represent....." He used some additional stronger language on the blog.

In an earlier MySpace blog, Lennon had alluded to a possible performance at the awards, but there was no mention of Sean's involvement. "I'm in discussion with people from the UN Awards, about possibly performing a track or two for their live inaugural show/event, which I'm very excited about, but also very nervous about, as I haven't really performed properly for about 8/10 years! They are honoring individuals and companies that have made a difference, and try to make a difference for the betterment of humanitarian and environmental issues. Not dissimilar to what I had envisaged for The White Feather Foundation. Hopefully we'll be able to join forces & help each other help those in need, including this beautiful planet which we share together."

He also indicated in the blog that he's working on a new album.
