Peter & Gordon to reunite in tribute for Dave Clark 5 singer

Update (8/16/05)
  • From Frank D. Branchini:

    Steve,

Here are two sets of comments about the Mike Smith benefit from Barbara Wright from Maryland: Frank, you can most certainly use anything I said about the concert! Feel Free! I should have written down what the bands played but I was having such a great time and having fun talking to the guys next to me and looking around the room at celebrities...I can't remember!!! I know Peter and Gordon played "Woman", "Lady Godiva", "I Won't Stay in a World Without Love", .... THe Zombies only played a couple tunes since they got in so late... The Fab Faux were tremendous...they need to play here in DC/Balto. Sid Bernstein is their manager and I know him so I bugged him about it!! :) Barb Denny Laine sounded good but looks ancient! This was being filmed for a DVD so it will be double fun!

    Update (8/5/05)

  • Sean Anglum sends this report on how David Letterman helped the Zombies made their way to the Mike Smith benefit:

Just wanted to pass this along in case you hadn't heard it. Dave Letterman rescued the British band, the Zombies, on Tuesday night. The Zombies were scheduled to appear at BB King's in New York on Tuesday as a headliner for the Mike Smith Benefit and Tribute Concert. The group was flying in via Toronto. As you remember earlier on Tuesday afternoon there was a terrible incident with an Air France plane running off the end of theToronto runaway and burning. This closed down the entire airport and stranded the Zombies in Toronto. Late Night host David Letterman came to the rescue and chartered a private plane to fly the group to New York for the benefit show. Dave's Late Show bandleader, Paul Shaffer, was the musical director and main coordinator of the Mike Smith show. The show must go on and tho' they arrived late, 11 p.m., they reportedly put in a great set for the first show and the second sold out show rocked on til 4:30 a.m. Three cheers for Dave Letterman, still one of rock music's best friends!

    Take care,
    Sean

  • And here's a Fox News report on the show, with details on the Peter and Gordon reunion.
