As we are aware, Brazilian's soap opera "Celebridade" has been featuring lots of Beatles links on its episodes. Today, actor Heny Castelli spoted Paul's photo at Malu Mader's (Maria Clara Diniz) office and said that he'd die if he could take a pic beside him. They talked about how they loved Paul's career in the Beatles and after that. Then Castelli commented: I think Paul and John were the ones most criticized on the group because they took their wives to the stage. It was cool having Paul and the Beatles again being mentioned. This soap opera is seen on Portugal, Japan, Australia and many other countries which is a bonus - which makes more than 50 million people watching!
Hi, Steve,Just to put up some scenes of "Celebridade."
At some point one of the caracters (I can't remember it's name!) was answering a phone (she's an assistant to something) and behind her, on the wall, there was a photo of her beside Paul. It's fake, it was a collage of two different photos, but still...
Bye - and keep up with the good work,
Suman
Update (10/14/03)
Wow! The first chapter of "Celebridade" soap opera is being exibited right now. There was a special opening and the fist face to come up was Paul's - Sgt. Pepper's era. It was that close up in black white shown on Penny Lane clip. John, George and Ringo followed, of course. After so many "celebrities" faces, including Elvis, Michael Jackson etc, Paul McCartney came back on scene again at an autograph's session. Maybe it was The Blackbird Singing one in 2000. I just loved it!
Update (8/8/03)
Some tidbits about Brazilian soaps. They are huge and on prime time TV in Brazil. One must also not compare Brazilian soaps to U.S. soaps as they are very different. First Brazilian soaps have a beginning, middle and end. They usually run for about 180 or so episodes (about 7 or 8 months). They then end and a new soap immediately begins. The production values are much higher on TV Globo Soaps than they are in U.S. soaps. Brazilian soaps are commonly shot outdoors as opposed to U.S. soaps which are normally all in indoor studios and themes and dates vary. Some sopas take place in the 1800's while others in modern or even future dates. A successful Globo soap recently ended which was a comedy about vampires. Another recent succes was called "The Clone". Also the best Brazilian actors work on soaps as opposed to the in the U.S., where many Soap stars would rather be in movies.Globo airs three daily soaps in prime time. They are know as the 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. soaps even though they may start a little later than the described time. The 7PM soap is usually on the comedy side while the 8PM is more dramatic and usually the one with highest ratings.(40 or more million viewers daily) The 8pm slot is the slot in which the "Celebrities" soap would be on. Globo soaps can be watched in the USA via channel 596 on DISH network, TV Globo Internacional. Louis
