Update (7/12/09)
If you've been wondering why Mark Lewisohn's name hasn't been mentioned with the remasters, we have the answer. We contacted Mark on Saturday. It's in our latest Beatles Examiner column.
Update (7/11/09)
The U.S. remastered box set prices for both the stereo and mono boxes came out Thursday and Amazon.com finally listed them Friday. They aren't cheap, but Amazon's prices are running at least $50 under list and they could go lower before the Sept. 9 release date. (Amazon will charge you the lower rate if you order them at a more expensive price.)
Update (5/22/09)
Burley of Fab4Radio.com passed on this interesting Twitter post that he said came from Capitol Records Thursday:
"After an Apple/EMI presentation today all we can say is save all of your money for 09.09.09. You WILL NOT be dissapointed."
Update (5/10/09)
Adam Powell sent us an alert that the sticker at left is appearing on Beatles CDs.
Update (4/16/09)
Two new stereo tracks are included in the remastered Beatles "Past Masters" set. More information on Examiner.com.
Update (4/14/09)
The mystery about the remastered "Past Masters" has been solved. The Amazon listing is correct and the Beatles website listing was wrong. It's a two-disc set comprised of both current separate volumes, which author Bruce Spizer, who posted on the Beatles-Collectors Yahoo group, confirmed. The EMI press release notes the stereo set is 14 titles over 16 discs. The two double discs are, of course, "The Beatles (White Album)" and "Past Masters."
(4/9/2009)
The trailer on the Beatles' website does not have remastered music, we're told, though you can hear "Please Please Me" and "Eight Days a Week" in stereo. Even though they have been in stereo before.
