The new issue of Rolling Stone has an article on the 100 greatest singers of all time and 4 different covers to celebrate, The cover stars are Elvis, Aretha, Dylan and Lennon.

The new issue of the British movie magazine Empire, has a feature on the 500 greatest movies of all time with a whopping 100, yes 100 different covers! All the classics from "The Godfather," "Citizen Kane," "A Clockwork Orange," "Apocalypse Now" right up to "The Dark Knight" have their own cover, but, of course, I wouldn't be telling you this if the Fabs didn't, and they indeed do have a cover of their own for "A Hard Day's Night." Realizing the chances of finding a cover that was 1 in 100 would prove difficult on the magazine racks, I just ordered it online from the website. The cost came out to about 9 or 10 dollars American (pretty standard for these U.K. magazines like Mojo, Uncut etc, quality don't come cheap I guess) You can go here to browse the other covers and maybe even order one as well: http://www.empireonline.com/500/100covers/covers.asp

Although I do not have the new issue yet, the cover of the new (editor's note: October) issue of Mojo has a Paul interview, and next to his photo reads "My White Album" Plus! The Beatles Remastered." Could this be the exclusive news promised? The long awaited remasters?! I hope it dosen't turn out to be some wishful thinking in the Paul interview to keep us all happy like he and Yoko have done so many times already, promising that it's almost ready on and on... But I highly doubt that mojo would bill it as exclusive Beatles news unless it's definitely happening... anyway fingers crossed. I'll let you know as soon as I get the issue!

They were going to call it "A Doll’s House," but Family got there first (“Curse you, Roger Chapman and your Larry The Lamb warble!” the Fabs must have grumbled). In the end – imaginatively – they called it "The Beatles," but we – more imaginatively still – call it The White Album. In the days before No Logo, this was visionary (read: accidental) guerrilla branding, turning a band who embodied the nascent ’60s project into a band that represented nothing but themselves. Meanwhile, the music The Beatles made was the most varied, spooked and durable of their careers, a reflection of a disassembling group and a fracturing of their individual personalities under the pressure of fame, drugs, psychic baggage and controversial new girlfriends. 40 years on, MOJO celebrates The White Album’s brilliance and diversity, in a magazine, on an amazing free CD, and online in what can only be described as a cavalcade of content. The new issue of the great Mojo Magazine (178) Has a cover story on the Beatles White Album. It comes with a disc of covers of the White Album. It says disc 1. I'm guessing the album will be covered in its entirety over 2 discs, but I'm unsure if issue 178 will have both cd's in a 50/50 ratio or if disc 2 will come with the next issue.
