(8/17/03) From Richard Barr:
The show was great . Well worth the 2 hour drive!!
Sounds like the show was exactly like the other reviews posted earlier for other shows.
The set list was trimmed a bit from earlier shows. Gone are the Paul Carrack and Colin Hay numbers before Here Comes The Sun but everything else was the same.
I was hoping the CD and DVD of the Casino Rama show would be on sale by this show - but it was still just the flyer you have posted you could pick up. Oh well.
Ringo was in a great mood joking and laughing with the audience. At one point saying he was given the key to the city earlier in the day - and now he could enter everyones homes!
Nice small theatre in St Pete - looked almost sold out - only a few seats here and there that i could see - and the sound was great.
During I Wanna Be Your Man Paul Carrack's microphone stand broke and when it came time for his piano solo he was there holding the mic - and Ringo said "just play the piano" - and Paul put the mic on the ground and played the rest of the song without singing the background vocals. A stage hand fixed it between numbers while Ringo said that things breakdown from time to time- like your nerves!
Sheila E continues to amaze with her powerful drumming. You could hear people around us saying how they were suprised by her drumming. Colin Hay was a crowd favorite drawing standing o's for his numbers. Mark Rivera is a heck of a musician! What else can you say. John Waits was good and had the showstopper new arrangement of When I See You Smile - awesome.
Well enough rambling! Enjoy the show if your going! I sure did!
