VARIOUS -- GREAT COLA COMMERCIALS, VOL. 2 (Vox 2): This is the third disc we've seen like this (the other two are reviewed elsewhere on this page). This one collects commercials taken from the years 1966, '68, '69, '71, '72, '83, '84 and '85 for Coca-Cola and Pepsi and Dr. Pepper. The sound quality, as on the other two discs, is excellent. Those featured include Michael Jackson (two ads to the tune of "Billie Jean"), Johnny Cash, Tammy Wynette, Delaney and Bonnie, Del Shannon, the Hondells, Three Dog Night, Nancy Sinatra, the Tremeloes, the Carpenters, Ray Charles and the Ides of March, plus the very famous "I'd Like to Buy the World a Coke" ad by the New Seekers. Overall, though, this one just didn't seem as enjoyable as the others, maybe because some of the ads are so recent. Still, these discs have all been fun to hear and if you enjoyed the first two as much as we did, you'll want this one. And to whoever's doing them, keep 'em coming! (June '97)
