ALWAYS...PATSY CLINE (ORIGINAL CAST RECORDING) (MCA): Tributes and imitators are usually best avoided (or at least not taken seriously), but if you're a Patsy Cline fan, you absolutely have to hear this one. No lie: Mandy Barnett is so good she BECOMES the late Patsy Cline. It sounds so good it'll scare you. The fact that she has the cooperation of the Patsy Cline family and estate, and that it was recorded at the legendary Ryman Auditorium, should indicate that this is no slapdash effort. Try to take a listen before you buy it, especially to "Sweet Dreams" and "Crazy," and see if it doesn't floor you like it did me.(Dec. '95)
