THE SEARCHERS -- IT'S THE SEARCHERS/TAKE ME FOR WHAT I'M WORTH (Mobile Fidelity): The British Invasion has, up to this point, been totally ignored in high fidelity releases. For that reason alone, kudos to Mobile Fidelity for releasing this (and making it a two-fer). Though "It's the Searchers" has been out on CD in England, neither has been out on CD in the States, so this disc has a lot of cuts that haven't appeared on CD Stateside. Out of the 26 tracks, 22 are in stereo and sound superb. The track list does include a few of the group's hits: "Needles and Pins" (which sounds wonderful here), "Don't Throw Your Love Away," "Where Have You Been All My Life," and "Take Me For What I'm Worth. The booklet contains fan-type info taken from the albums' original liner notes, but we would have liked a few words on how this was assembled for CD by Mobile Fidelity. But if you're a Searchers fan, you'll want this. (May '96)
