THE WHO -- LIVE AT THE ISLE OF WIGHT FESTIVAL 1970 (Columbia/Legacy): What MCA couldn't or wouldn't do with its "Live At Leeds" reissue -- release a full Who concert, including a live "Tommy," from their best period -- Columbia/Legacy has. And superlatives can't begin to cover all the bases. The sound is superb, although Keith Moon's drums seems to be mixed up a little too much early on, but that's corrected later. But the performance is simply stunning. Listening to Keith here is all the evidence needed of why the Who never were able to recover from his death. It's Christmas come early. Run, don't walk, to get this one. (November, '96)
