April 20: George Harrison makes a guest appearance with Monty Python's Flying Circus at New York's City Center during a performance of "The Lumberjack Song."
Sept. 7: George Harrison is found guility of "subconscious plagarism" of the song "He's So Fine" in his composition of "My Sweet Lord." He was ordered to pay $587,000. Ironically, the fine was paid on Feb. 26, 1981 to Allen Klein, the Beatles' former manager, who had purchased the rights to the song in 1980. Harrison wrote a song about his legal troubles called "The Pirate Song," co-written with Monty Python's Eric Idle.
Sept. 28: A&M Records sues Harrison for $10 million for failing to comply with terms of his contract for non-completion of an album. The two parties later agreed to end the contract. Harrison later got Warner Bros. to take over distribution of the label.
Nov. 19: Harrison guest stars on NBC's "Saturday Nite Live," singing songs with host Paul Simon. In a comedy sketch, Harrison argues unsuccessfully with producer Lorne Michaels that he should receive the money Michaels promised on a previous edition for a Beatles reunion on the show.
